Job Description

Fiji Television was founded on the 15th of June, 1994 as the first permanent commercial television broadcasting network in Fiji. Fiji Television provides YOU infotainment and entertainment. Fiji Television has a diverse portfolio of content with local and International Entertainment, Sports and News

The role is required to develop, implement and coordinate all Fiji Television marketing and sales activities. In addition, the role is expected develop and monitor Fiji Television Limited Sales and Marketing plan to allow Fiji Television to optimise advertising revenue including Fiji TV's digital marketing campaign by leveraging various digital platforms to promote Fiji TV presence and visibility. S/he reports to the General Manager.

1. Effective management of marketing initiatives of Fiji Television, ensuring brand integrity and positioning
  • Leading and driving the transition from traditional approaches in marketing to innovations in digital marketing aligned with the company expectations                         
  • Develop and implement an effective annual strategic marketing plan developed and implemented, ensuring that the plan is aligned with Fiji TV’s vision and mission                       
    • Industry investment in marketing shifts to online marketing for higher impact with cost effective approaches
    • Timely production of marketing plans, programs and activities
    • Development of detail weekly sales/marketing plans for all sales representatives and creative producers with clear up to date revenue figures; including timelines

  • Marketing/Sales/In-house production functional budgets are prepared in accordance with Fiji TV's procedures and guidelines                            
    • Annual Market plan implemented within the allocated budget

  • Effective leadership and mentoring provided to all staff of Marketing, Sales and In-House production Division                     
    • Staff performance monitored and managed against the Fiji TV's performance management system
  • Operational and Statutory Compliance of the Division maintained at all times                       
    • Compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as statutory compliance with relevant local, regional and international legislation's and conventions ensured

    • Coordination of the ratings, twice a year and interpretation and reports submitted to the Executive Management
    • Customer surveys undertaken to ascertain market acceptance and sensitivity factors by audience and customer grouping
  • Effective oversight and management of the In-house production
    • Concept creations including television, video, print, web and radio based advertising supported
    • Script writing for television commercials and videos assisted in a timely fashion
    • Production planning, delivery and monitoring.
    • Preparation of quotations and managing profitable operation of the In House Production team
  • Serve as a liaison with the Sales and Audit /Finance Committee of the Board of Directors in the provision sales revenue reports and information on a timely basis.
3. Increased advertising and sponsorship revenue ensured
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of the sales and marketing plan
  • Extensive promotion and sales plans prepared in accordance with the company's strategic objectives
    • ROI reports on sales and promotion prepared in a timely manner for effective decision making
  • Maximum advertising revenue based on the potential advertising spend in the key sectors of the economy achieved and continuously optimised
    • Explore and exploit untapped business sectors for increased market share 
  • Development and maintenance of rate card (in conjunction with the General Manager) together with staff user guides
  • Monitoring the advertisement spend by segment and marketing campaigns developed and market share maintained
  • Analyse sales revenue potential in value adding aspects of the Fiji Television business (such as merchandise)
4. Well-informed management and Board
  • Accurate and timely reports/information provided to the Board and Management when required
    • Marketing/Sales/In-house Production reports for CEO and Board prepared and submitted
  • All and other specific reports relating to events and/or incidents are submitted to the CEO and Board in a timely manner
  • Relevant advice provided to management and Board for effective decision-making
  • All other duties as directed by the CEO and/or the Board addressed as and when required
5. Organisation's image and value standards demonstrated and promoted at all times

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. More than five years relevant work experience in leadership role in marketing and sales
  2. Demonstrable experience leading and managing marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  3. Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  4. Possess a high level of research and analytical skills and ability to analyse market trends
  5. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc) including editing software
  6. Proven high level of research and analytical skills and ability to understand and analyse market trends.
  7. Excellent and demonstrable communication and relationship management skills.
  8. Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  9. Experience in media production is an advantage
