Site Engineer - Lautoka


Job Description

The Fiji Ports Corporation PTE Limited (FPCL) is a major player in the maritime transporting industries and the operator of commercial port facilities in Fiji.

Responsible for efficient coordination of the assigned engineering projects ensuring timely and effective completion and implementation. This role reports to the Project Officer

Outcomes

Organisational Stakeholders
1. Construction Monitoring
  • Coordinate and closely monitor the contractor's construction planning, mobilization and execution on the site for compliance to the specifications and the applicable law.
  • Ensure that all construction methodology and works meet the minimum safety requirements and comply to the works specifications.
  • Maintain a Daily Log Book and submit a Weekly Progress Report to the Project Officer no later than 10am every Friday.
  • Monitor the structural status of juxtaposition structures and temporary works during and after construction of each segment.
  • Closely monitor the high risk construction activity and initiate the mitigation plan in coordination with the Project Team.
2. Construction Schedule
  • Study / review the contractor's construction schedule and coordinate with FPTL, Harbour Master Office and other critical stakeholder to minimize operational impact.
  • Update the Works Schedule on FPCL's Project Management System.
  • Proactively monitor and coordinate with the Contractor in regard to upcoming tasks to minimize project delays.
  • Issue Notice To Proceed (NTP), Work Order's (WO), Stop Work Notice (SWN) and / or Scope Change Notice (SCN) and other notices and correspondence to Contractor in accordance with the Project Team directions.
3. Works Material Compliance
  • Supervise onsite and offsite material and fabrication testing in accordance with the project specifications./
  • Initiate the Issuance of Non-Compliance Notice to the Contractor or vendor in coordination with the Project Team.
  • Provide Material Test Reports no later than 1 day after the test.
  • Maintains Quality Register.
4. Stakeholder Management (Internal and External)
  • Liaise with relative internal and external stakeholders for project management.
  • Coordinate with the Project Team to address Project Issues related to internal and external stakeholder.
5. Risk and Issues Management
  • Monitor and update the Project Risk Management Plan.
  • Identify any new onsite risks and prepare Contingency Plan for Project Team review and approval.
  • Evaluate the Issues Register and identify areas of improvement.
6. Communication and Documention
  • Ensure contractor compliance to the Project Communication Plan and documentation are in accordance with the Contract and FPCL Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Update and enforce the Project Communication Plan and Documentation.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. A minimum of 3 years experience in Marine Structures and Construction
  2. A minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering field
  3. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and AutoCAD
  4. Must possess supervisory experience
  5. Proficient in the use of MS Project PWA
  6. Demonstrated competence of handling matters effectively in complex environments
  7. Ability to think innovatively and contribute ideas of improvements
  8. Demonstrated knowledge in electronic document management
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and FPCL online reporting systems
