Regional Coordinator - Climate Change [Short Term]


Job Description

The Pacific Disability Forum (PDF) is a regional peak body on disability, provides leadership as well as supports national organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), donor and development partners as well as civil society and the private sector in the pursuit to ensure that persons with disabilities live in an inclusive, barrier-free and rights-based society in Pacific Island countries and territories.

This role is responsible for assisting with the successful coordination, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of PDF climate change programme activities and objectives. The incumbent reports directly to the Manager HRDU.

1. Effective coordination and management of Phase 1 Agreement
  • Appropriate information and analysis provided to ensure support to the PERU programme planning and objectives
  • Effective and timely execution of PERU strategy plan programmes and projects deliverable ensured
  • Relevant performance targets for PERU programmes and projects achieved
  • PERU programmes and project refinement efficiently and effectively managed
  • PERU programmes and project costs maintained within budget
  • The Climate Change and DRR capacity assessment work with DPOs are effectively led
  • Capacity building for DPOs conducted, reported, monitored, reviewed against plans ensured
2. Effective Programme Reporting
  • Timely provision of relevant and accurate programme and project related information/reports provided to all stakeholders (including donors)
  • Timely, relevant and accurate quantitative/qualitative basis facilitates sound executive decision-making
  • Increase in programme funding allocation achieved
  • Quarterly reports provided to Project Manager
  • Quality standards for programme and funding acquittal reporting maintained
3. Review of the Disability Inclusive Preparedness for Response (DIPfR) strategy support the PERU objectives
  • Appropriate research outcomes analysed support the continuous refinement of the DIPfR
  • Effective implementation and execution of the DIPfR support the PERU objectives
  • Relevant changes are effectively communicated to management, DPOs, strategic partners and donor agencies
4. Productive stakeholder engagement through networking and strategic communication
  • Effective capacity building, peer learning and knowledge exchange opportunities (domestic, regional and international) for stakeholders, particularly the DPOs and the researchers
  • Post-training reporting streamlined and reports are timely and complete
  • Timely production of articles relating to PERU projects for PDF quarterly newsletters, website, listserv, information/educational materials and donor reporting
  • Inclusive relationships and synergies between PERU section, DPOs, researchers and strategic partners efficiently and effectively managed/optimised
  • Efficient communication/information dissemination protocols for all PERU programmes, special projects advocacy and training information ensured
  • Visibility and reputation of members enhanced  domestically, regionally and internationally
  • Stakeholder engagement objectives and targets as per PIDfR strategy achieved

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Demonstrated successful management of programmes and policy advocacy at national but preferable taking an active role in regional and global settings
  2. Understands and can promote the PDF values and approaches to development with a commitment and passion to serve the people of the Pacific Islands
  3. Proven programme planning experience at the management level
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  5. Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
  6. Proven ability to work on multiple projects and a busy schedule
  7. Strong communication and presentation skills
