Job Description

The Fiji Ports Corporation PTE Limited (FPCL) is a major player in the maritime transporting industries and the operator of commercial port facilities in Fiji.

This role is responsible for the supervision and coordination of all electrical projects, maintenance works and electrical compliance requirements of FPCL port facilities and other infrastructure. The role reports to the Senior Maintenance Engineer.

Outcomes

Organisational Stakeholders
1. Inspections, repair and maintenance of electrical works and projects coordinated and conducted in a timely and efficient manner:
  • Direct electrical maintenance and upgrade activities for wharves, tenanted properties, buildings and roads of the port facilities planned and executed. 
  • Attendance to all electrical breakdowns ensured.
  • Electrical works conducted in accordance to regulatory and company standards.
  • All equipment is safe and in optimal working order through routine electrical maintenance and services      
    • Generators, incinerators, sewer pumps, all facility lights, switchboards and other related equipment.
  • Regular inspections conducted on  facilities and electrical works with timely and accurate reporting and ensure all FPCL facilities are free of electrical hazards.
  • Tests and servicing conducted efficiently.   
  • Monitoring and control of the organization’s energy usage and upgrading of outdated electrical infrastructures to meet modern standards and improve efficiencies.                  
  • Oversee electrical team and electrical contractors, issue electrical permits work permits and assist with commissioning, monitoring works and ensure successful completion of works.
  • Ensure safe working practices and electrical safety rules are followed by electricians on site.
  • Schedules for inspection and preventative maintenance prepared efficiently.
  • Maintenance work plans prepared effectively.
  • Preparation of detailed project plans, Terms of Reference and Tender documents, technical evaluations for electrical projects.
  • All projects and maintenance works updates provided effectively to the Senior Maintenance Engineer.

 

 

 

2. Budgets and paperwork for repair, maintenance and upgrades prepared and submitted in a timely and effective manner:
  • Preparation of detailed yearly electrical maintenance and capital upgrade budgets (OPEX and CAPEX).
  • Electrical budgets OPEX and CAPEX controlled and managed effectively.                              
  • Purchase requisitions, invoicing and payments administered in liaison with the Finance Department and other relevant departments as necessary with regards to the above.               
    • Invoices received from suppliers reconciled against given company order. 
  • Documents relating to Repair and Maintenance and project works and Engineering Staff completed as required
3. Supervisory and leadership of the department demonstrated effectively:
  • Contracts for electrical work supervised effectively
  • Stakeholder management ensured                
    • Manage client relationship
  • Client and customer relationships managed efficiently                              
    • ensure stakeholders are always well informed as required
    • attend to customer complaints at the Technical Division and notify the Senior Maintenance Engineer (or other relevant persons) on all Technical Division complaints
  • Weekly Support Staff Time Sheet received from the electrical team Suva and Lautoka collated      
    • summarize and send it to Senior Maintenance Engineer for verification and approval, and send it to HR
  • Weekly time sheet for Electricians permanent staff collated                    
    • submit to Senior Maintenance Engineer for vetting and send it to HR
  • Supervision and management of the team ensured portraying fairness, work efficiency and effectiveness.                 
    • Effective and efficient work practices are maintained
4. Effective assistance provided to the Senior Maintenance Engineer in ensuring all departmental training and quality objectives are addressed and completed in a timely and efficient manner:
  • Quality and performance standards of maintenance and project work developed, implemented and improved under the instructions of the Senior Maintenance Engineer.
  • Available to attend emergencies on a 24 hour basis and always alert to emergencies                       
    • relevant departments and personnel are well informed through regular liaison and excellent communication
  • Relevant documents uploaded to the Document Management System as necessary
  • Effective assistance provided to the Senior Maintenance Engineer in a timely manner and as requires
    • Department's standard operating procedures (SOP) are relevant, up to date and effectively communicated                                                               
      • SoPs further developed to ensure ongoing operational efficiency
      • Business process flows maintained and monitored as per company requirements
    • Department's policies are relevant, up to date and effectively communicated                     
      • Policies further developed to ensure ongoing operational efficiency
    • Department annual budget is complete, accurate and submitted in a timely fashion
    • All administrative and operational records and filing systems updated, maintained and archived as per company policy                                                    
      • Departmental reports and documents are uploaded on the company intranet at the end of every month 
      • Reports and documents are up to date and accurate
      • DMS is updated and maintained
    • Department calendar is updated annually and in a timely fashion
  • Compilation, review and submission of monthly reports ensured                           
    • Updates and reports provided to the Maintenance Engineer as and when required          
      • assistance provided in the submission of accurate required information for the Annual Report
