Business Manager


Job Description

Only 20 minutes drive from Nadi International Airport, Port Denarau Marina is Fiji’s premier marina facility. As the hub of the integrated Denarau Island Resort, Port Denarau Marina is the gateway to exploring the idyllic sun drenched tropical isles of Fiji’s Western Division.

The Business Manager will be responsible for executing and ensuring PDML is compliant with policies, procedures, rules and regulations set under all relevant laws. This includes preparing, negotiating, facilitating, and documenting PDML business contracts, managing variations, and continuously improving the business processes. The role reports to Chief Executive Officer.

    • Regular communication with tenants ensured, to anticipate and respond to boating needs that may arise. 
    • Regular formal meetings conducted
    • Follow up on annual compliance documents
  • Tenancy contracts regularly maintained and updated according to contract terms, and approved by CEO
    • Ensure that tenants meet the obligations as set out in their sub leases.
    • Become actively involved with negotiation or re-negotiation of sub lease agreements, in consultation with CEO.
    • Be the key liaison for tenant enquiries
2. Negotiation & Risk Management and Legal Compliance
  • Engage in negotiations with tenants, suppliers, contractors, or partners to establish mutually beneficial contract terms and conditions.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with contract terms, pricing, delivery timelines, and other relevant factors.
  • Ensure contracts adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies to minimize legal and financial risks.
  • Address any disputes or discrepancies that arise during the course of the contract and work toward resolution.
3. Operational support and efficiency ensured
  • Develop and maintain PDML Policies and Procedures as required
  • Facilitation, and monitoring of PDML accreditations
    • Clean Marina program
    • Other accreditations as and when required
    • Support other managers/departments to implement a safe and environmentally sound business
  • Facilitation of special projects ensured, as and when directed by CEO
4. Well informed management
  • Management reporting:
    • Performance against operational targets
    • Billing and debt management activities/actions
  • Operational advice and administrative support to Management
  • Ad-hoc information request by management team addressed in a timely manner
5. A statutory and operationally compliant PDML
  • Facilitation ensured for statutory permits and licenses
  • Support provided for an operationally compliant PDML
    • Compliance with PDML policies and procedures
    • Compliance with Marina bylaws and terms and conditions
    • Compliance with Clean Marina and Fish-friendly programs
  • Update and communicate relevant environmental and OHS legislation together with Security & HSE Manager to all tenants and stakeholders
  • Support provided for a legislative compliant PDML:
    • Compliance with Fiji legislation including MSAF Act, OH&S, Environment Act, Employment Relations Act
    • Liaise with Government authorities/regulators required to inspect the Marina on occasions for safety or other legislative purposes with CEO approval
    • Global compliance to legislation/regulations, conventions etc

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Knowledge of general boat handling, mooring and docking practices applicable to the operation and use of Marina facilities would be advantageous
  2. Ability to organize sales, service, maintenance.
  3. Proven management background
  4. Knowledge of modern Office methods, equipment and policies
  5. Knowledge of standard safety precautions and first aid procedure.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with boatmen, concessionaires, and the general public.
