Manager - Maintenance, Energy and Sustainability v (2.00) [Suva]


Job Description

The Fiji Ports Corporation PTE Limited (FPCL) is a major player in the maritime transporting industries and the operator of commercial port facilities in Fiji.

The main focus is to deliver business Sustainability objectives and Environment Quality Standard (EQS) goals by working as a member of the Green Port Initiative Team to ensure development, monitoring and compliance to the in-house system, and legislative requirements are met (including Development Consents, governmental licensing and other environmental requirements including reporting), also enforces measures for the sustainability strategies are implemented across the business and seek out opportunities for increasing energy efficiencies. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

1. Managing and Monitoring FPCL Infrastructure and Safety
  • Oversee and monitor the ongoing and upcoming projects in the port of Suva, Lautoka and Levuka in line with FPCL's 5 Year Strategic Plan. 
  • Projects delegated to the Maintenance departmented coordinated and completed (on-time and within budget, with the requisite quality) from design to implementation
  • Effective assistance provided in the development and implementation of the department's

  • Oversee FPCL's Engineering and Maintenance staff's performance by establishing, monitoring and reviewing work performance to ensure the highest standards of work is consistently maintained
  • CAPEX and OPEX cost is efficiently monitored in line with FPCL strategic plans and approved budgets.

2. Enforce the Environment Quality Standard [EQS] Strategy, Sustainability Framework and Annual Plans for FPCL:
  • Implementations and improvements to the EQS culture led effectively by partnering and collaboratively engaging personnel in the continuous improvement of EQS.                   
    • efficient collaboration ensured with the Enforcement Officer, Quality Officer, Supervisor Maintenance and OHS Officer.
    • Development, implementation and monitoring of the ISO 14001 ensured.
  • Relevant stakeholders identified and collaborative meetings and briefings held twice yearly to address Green Port initiative deliverables.                  
    • Engagement with the Department of Environment and Energy in various areas to ensure FPCL is supported with its initiatives.
  • Project plans are developed in liaison with the Manager Projects and Assets, Senior Maintenance Engineer and execution ensured.
  • A Sustainability Framework ensured in liaison with the EQS and Energy Management Plan                             
    • Actions, decisions and recommendations taken and made regarding organizational processes which can have environmental implications

6. Manage the Maintenance Department in ensuring all departmental training and quality objectives are addressed and completed in a timely and efficient manner:
  • Quality and performance standards of maintenance work developed, implemented, monitored and improved under the instructions of the FPCL Executive Management. 
  • Ensure emergencies are attended on a 24 hour basis and always alert to emergencies
    • relevant departments and personnel are well informed through regular liaison and excellent communication
  • Relevant documents uploaded and updated to the Document Management System as necessary
  • Ensure effective assistance provided to the Maintenance department in a timely manner and as required
    • Department's standard operating procedures (SOP) are relevant, up to date and effectively communicated
      • SoPs further developed to ensure ongoing operational efficiency and provide guidance
      • Business process flows maintained and monitored as per company requirements
