Senior Fabrication and Refrigeration Technician


Job Description

Iceman (Fiji) PTE Limited is a joint venture company between CJ Patel & Company Pte Ltd and Iceman Technologies (Pvt) Ltd Sri Lanka. Iceman represents world renowned brands like Copeland, Geneglace (France), Bitzer (Germany) and Heatcraft (Australia) and primarily deals with installation, assembling, selling and carrying out maintenance on prefabricated cold rooms, ice plants, refrigerated trucks and air conditioners.

The Senior Fabrication and Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with refrigeration and fabrication projects in design, installation, troubleshooting and repairing of industrial and commercial cooling, ventilation and refrigeration related equipment and systems. The position reports to Technical Supervisor, Iceman (Fiji) Pte Limited.

1. Refrigeration (HVAC) Operations
  • HVAC projects and works planned and carried out as per client requirements and project scope in liaison with Project/Operations Manager
    • Inspection, monitoring, diagnoses, troubleshooting and repair & maintenance on all industrial and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration/chiller equipment and associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical and energy management control systems independently 
  • Participation in new equipment installations, refrigeration systems, as well as ice machines and other types of beverage equipment
  • Refrigeration and and cooling requirements reviewed and  modifications recommended to achieve optimal system effectiveness and efficiency of the system.
  • Technical / professional  advice provided to clients and other stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
  • Client relationships effectively managed
2. Fabrication Operations
  • Fabrication works carried out as per technical specifications and drawings
    • Read and interpret technical drawings
    • Troubleshoot issues with the fabrication or equipment
    • Ensure that fabrication conforms to drawing requirements.
  • Inspection and quality checks conducted on the projects 
    • Works completed according to given schedule, design and scope
3. Team Management
  • General leadership provided to the team
    • Staff supervision on site and guidance provided
  • Training, support and guidance to junior technicians to develop their job skills and safety practices.
    • Communicate work expectations and timescales with the team during daily briefings.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum ten years industrial or commercial refrigeration and fabrication work experience in a similar industry
  2. Experience & working knowledge in Evaporator brands like Luve, Kirby & Patten and Refrigeration machines like Copeland, Kirby & Bitzer.
  3. Have a solid understanding of IN cold & Bondor brand PUR/ PIR/EPS / XPS panels and in Carrier / Thermo king & Eutectic freezer truck system installation Projects.
  4. Experienced in interpreting complex blueprints - shop drawings, panels, cold rooms, freezer trucks, steel structures.
  5. Ability to coordinate well internally with colleagues, coordinators and workers and hands-on experience to train and demonstrate to workers
