Job Description

The Manager Finance, Risk & Compliance is responsible for the management of group financial reporting, risk & compliance. This position reports to the General Manager Corporate, Finance and Risk, CJ Patel Pte Limited.

1. Financial services and resources managed
  • Financial and operational systems for CJ Patel and Group standardized on an on-going basis
    • Company and reporting formats developed and implemented on an on-going basis
    • Internal controls managed
  • Finance policies, procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP) developed and implemented on a timely basis.
  • Review the existing policies and procedures and ensure that policies are procedures are in line with current practices, rules and regulations.
  • Update the policies and procedures as and when required.  
2. Risk and Insurance management
  • Risk management policy, framework and related documents managed 
    • Training and development provided on a timely basis
    • Review and update the ERM policies, procedures and documents from time to time   
  • Risks identified, mitigated and managed at all times
    • Risk register and reports updated quarterly for CJ Patel and Group
    • Ensure that all follow up actions are taken by the entities are per the time line agreed
  • Business continuity procedures developed and reviewed to ensure optimal operational continuity at all times 
  • Ensure that Disaster recovery plans are implement by group entities and ensure the validity from time to time.
  • Risk and audit sub committee meetings organized and managed on a timely basis
    • Minutes of the sub committee meetings  
  • Coordinate with entities to ensure that risk registers are updated on timely manner, follow up actions are taken to mitigate the risk
  • Maintain the group risk register.
  • Developing prudent Insurance coverage plan for all group assets, gross profits, other perils and staff medical 
  • Ensure timely review of Insurance coverage keeping in view business requirement
  • Ensure claim management and follow up for disbursal with brokers and Insurance providers
  • Risk mapping of Insurable risks to ensure zero gaps in coverage
  • Review the new insurance coverage available in market and applicability to the group.  
3. Statutory and operationally compliant organisation
  • Finance policy and procedures compliant at all times
    • Accounting standards and practices for CJ Patel and Group ensured
    • SOP's relating to finance and compliance are practiced all the time 
  • Statutory compliance managed on an on-going basis
  • IT related matters with Group IT addressed in a timely fashion
  • Assets (tangible and intangible) for CJ Patel safeguarded and managed on an on-going basis
  • Ensure that all trade marks, logos, business names are registered and renewed on timely basis.
  • Ensure that business licences and other requirements are obtained from relevant authorities  to ensure that businesses are operate legally
  • Commercial agreements recorded and updated on a timely basis 
  • Recommendations from audits managed on an on-going basis
  • Create repository of all entity level risk related legal agreements 
4. Well Informed Management
  • Timeliness, quality and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to management ensured
    • Monthly compliance reviewed
    • Board reports 
  • Monthly/quarterly report presentation is accurate and supports decision making
  • Ensure timely alerts to management for any deviance from policies 
  • Develop Risk compliance monitoring standards with Internal Audit
  • Ad-hoc information requests by management and shareholders for decision-making purposes addressed in a timely manner
  • Develop team work practices and provide necessary support to other departments where possible.
5. Effective Human Capital Management ensures a productive, stable and increasingly capable workforce
  • Supervision of and professional guidance to all staff ensured
  • Training needs and competency gaps of staff assessed and managed in partnership with management and HR Department

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum of seven years' (combined) audit & finance experience (commercial) is required
  2. Minimum four years' of Insurance, Risk, Control and Compliance experience is required.

  4. Analytical thinking ability and good communication skills
