Job Description

The Fiji Ports Corporation PTE Limited (FPCL) is a major player in the maritime transporting industries and the operator of commercial port facilities in Fiji.

The Wharf Attendant is responsible for the monitoring of vessels during berthing and unberthing, supply of fresh water to the vessel and supervision of lines man. The role reports to the Harbour Master.

1. Berthing and Unberthing of Vessels
  • Assist in berthing and unberthing of vessels
  • Accurate information provided to the Port Controller and Port Pilot with proper guidance during the berthing and unberthing of vessels
2. Provision of Fresh Water to Vessels
  • supply of fresh water to vessels in a timely manner
  • accurate recording of water meter readings in the water delivery cartnote
  • timely submission of water delivery cartnote for invoicing
3. Port Operation
  • Efficient flow of traffic within the port facilities
  • collection of parking fees
  • Accurate log of daily operation maintained
  • Reporting and recording of incidents in a timely manner
  • Port Controllers and Port Pilots assisted in operational matters
  • Cleanliness of the Port Facilities is maintained at all times
  • Work Environment is safe and secure with no financial loss to the company due to avoidable incidents
  • Plugging and unplugging of reefer containers in safe and efficient manner

  • All incidents and accidents logged and reported
  • Safety & security breaches logged and reported
  • Customers briefed on safety & security procedures
