Power Station Operator Team Leader - Noro


Job Description

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) trading as Solomon Power is a state-owned enterprise established under the Electricity Act 1969 and governed by the State-Owned Enterprises Act 2007 and the associated regulations. Solomon Power owns, maintains, and operates the country’s national electricity grid. Solomon Power generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in the Solomon Islands.

The Power Station Operator Team Leader oversee and supervise the work carried out by all Power Station Operators on a daily basis. The role reports to the Officer in Charge (OIC) - Noro/Munda.

1. Efficient and effective Power station operation is ensured
  • All tasks associated with the monitoring and running of the Generation plant and auxiliary equipment performed
  • Machines worked within specified parameters and any abnormalities reported to the OIC and Outstation Coordinator (OC).
  • Quality and timely monitoring reports provided to the OIC and OC regarding the performance of all Generation plant and auxiliaries to obtain optimum component efficiency
  • Daily generation statistics gathered and submitted to the OIC by the end of each month and is readily available to provide the Chief Engineer with statistics whenever required
  • Power Station is maintained in a clean and tidy state on a daily basis
  • Fuel and lube oil levels monitored and arranged for replenishment as required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the OIC  performed in a timely and efficient manner
2. Staff managed effectively
  • Time sheets correctly maintained, prepared on a daily basis and submitted to the designated time keeper and OIC on a fortnightly basis
  • Staff issues addressed in consultation with the OIC for necessary corrective action to be taken
  • Job training of all Power Station Operators carried out
  • All safety standards and regulations are observed by all staff and strict safety rules applicable to the Power Station operation enforced at all times
3. Informed Officer in Charge
  • Officer in Charge is kept informed of any technical issues relating to the Generation facilities and related matters
  • Officer in Charge and Outstation Coordinator are updated on the status of mechanical plants and auxiliaries
4. A healthy, safe and OHS compliant Solomon Power
  • Taking reasonable care of own health and safety and for the safety of other people, including people working under incumbent's supervision or direction who may be affected by his or her acts or omissions at the workplace ensured
  • Compliance with lawful direction given by Solomon Power with respect to health and safety matters under current Safety acts and regulations
5. Environmental protection is prioritised at all times
  • Ensure adherence to the requirements of the environmental systems
  • Ensure compliance with specific environmental management procedures applicable to their work

  • Deliverable's are complied with the prevailing laws and organisational policies and procedures
