Plumber


Job Description

Only 20 minutes drive from Nadi International Airport, Port Denarau Marina is Fiji’s premier marina facility. As the hub of the integrated Denarau Island Resort, Port Denarau Marina is the gateway to exploring the idyllic sun drenched tropical isles of Fiji’s Western Division.

The plumber is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and sheet metal works throughout the marina, to ensure efficient operations at PDML. This includes attending to plumbing emergencies and carrying out due assessments and repairs efficiently. This role reports to the Operations Manager.

1. Effective Technical Support
  • Effective and professional plumbing and technical support provided
    • Inspect, clean and repair all plumbing installations systems and sewage lines
    • Inspect, repair and maintain gutter flashings, roofing, fixtures and fittings
    • Inspect, clean and repair all installations pertaining to fire fighting and fire water pump and pressurization systems
    • Maintain domestic hot and cold-water supply systems, including clarifiers and heat exchangers
    • Maintain and service sewage pumps and related equipment’s
    • Attend to sanitary installations
    • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on all plumbing equipment
    • Take all meter readings during rostered shift.
  • Works carried out in a safe and timely manner, without direct supervision
  • Renewal or Repair decisions made after due assessments completed
    • File fault reports
    • Obtain approval to requisition parts
  • Technical advise provided based on defined technical solutions
  • Cleanliness at the place of work and on the job after completion of work ensured at all times
  • General cleaning of workshop area ensured
  • Facility and equipment maintenance and repair carried out with emphasis on aesthetics, as well as function, and to operational standards
2. Teamwork
  • Assistance and collaboration with other trades people ensured, to successfully complete projects
  • Support and development of competencies of other members ensured
  • Timely and constructive encouragement and guidance provided to team members
  • Assistance in daily Marina operations when necessary as directed by management

  • Stock/Inventory levels managed effectively for department
  • Record keeping maintained for all labour works carried out at Marina, and submitted for billing

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum of 5 years experience in repairs and new installation
  2. Working knowledge of plumbing systems and reading blue prints
  3. Problem solving skills, ensuring effective and efficient plumbing solutions
  4. Adequate knowledge of systems structures and how to troubleshoot systems by utilizing the knowledge of how the system was designed to perform
  5. Mechanical skills, which enable a plumber to understand which tools to use and how they should be used
  6. Must know safety guideline and procedures for all equipment
  7. Teamwork - Must have a pleasant personality and ability to get along with customers and co-workers
  8. Plumbers Licence advantageous but not necessary.
