Job Description

SC Foods is a world-class food manufacturer based in Ba, Fiji . Producing a variety of noodle, extruded snacks, and confectionery, SC Foods adheres to strict compliance with the international ISO accreditation standards and ensures the best in quality control and delivery.

The Safety, Health and Environmental Officer/Production Clerk is responsible for ensuring regulatory & statutory compliance for a safe & healthy working environment for all employees, visitors and contractors of SC Foods Pte Limited. This role is also responsible for managing the Ba production stock. This role reports to the Production Manager,SC Foods Pte Limited.

1. Health, safety and environmental management optimization
  • Be a change manager through health, safety and environmental management optimization.
    • Understand health, safety and environmental problems and opportunities and clearly communicate solutions to a broad stakeholder base as required.
    • Create a changed behavior by continuously motivating and educating staff to change their methods and beliefs on health and safety at the workplace at all times.

2. Regulatory and operationally compliant organization
  • Occupational, Health and safety policies and procedures developed and implemented as per HASWA 1996
    • Recommend and implement improvement in safety standards
  • Monthly inspections and risk assessments carried out on a timely basis and any abnormalities identified and solutions recommended
    • Departmental safety inspections to ensure safe and clean working conditions at all times
    • 6 monthly fire drills ensured
  • Accident and incident investigations and future improvement action plan development and implementation ensured
    • Accidents and incidents are documented on required forms, investigated and improvements recommended and implemented
    • Accident statistics and accident trend analysis maintained and remedial action taken where necessary
    • Accidents and near-miss investigation ensured and detailed findings report presented to the Factory Manager with recommendations for the prevention of recurrence and implementation of approved course of action ensured
    • Worker's compensation claims process handled as required
  • Trainings and awareness sessions on health and safety issues ensured
    • A register for Fire Wardens maintained and renewals of certification and/or refresher trainings initiated as required by law
    • A register for First Aid trainers maintained and renewals of certification and/or refresher trainings initiated as required by law
    • Training on handling goods and any actions to take for any potential spills or emissions
    • Training on handling of any dangerous goods and materials and regular monitoring to ensure compliance
    • Initiate and organize safety and compliance training for all current employees and induction training for all new recruits
  • Strict monitoring of safety regulations by all stakeholders and enforcing safety at the work place ensured at all times
    • Timely renewal of National Fire Authority/Occupational Health&Safety and Environment licenses required for operation
3. Controlling of BA production warehouse
  • Timely completion of  jobs/shop orders on daily basis and hand it to finance for review.
  • Under the guidance of production Managers provide material variance explanation 
  • Assistance to Finance in BP &sundry stock take is ensured
  • Ba production slow & non-moving report is compiled on a monthly basis is ensured
  • Appropriate immediate actions for material rejections is ensured
4. Well informed management
  • Monthly and quarterly report is timely and accurate
    • Preparation and presentation identifying trends in the company.
    • Preparation of reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to senior management
  • OHS meetings ensured on monthly basis with meeting minutes recorded and management team updated on any urgent matters.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
  2. Tertiary qualification in OHS or completion of OHS modules I - IV
  3. An strong command of English
  4. Ability to understand and interpret company policies and procedures
  5. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise multiple tasks
  6. Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  7. Demonstrated experience in implementing OHS systems and procedures
  8. Must have Microsoft word and excel computer knowledge
