Marketing Manager


Job Description

CJ Patel (Pacific) Limited is one of Fiji’s largest distributors of locally manufactured and renowned international Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) within Fiji and most of the Pacific. The company has an extensive distribution network with major supermarkets, food service industries and down-the-line (DTL) retailers with its main warehouse in Wailekutu, Lami and supported by branch operations in Lautoka and Labasa and other regional markets such as New Zealand, East Timor, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tonga, Samoa and Papua New Guinea.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the short and long-term marketing vision for CJ Patel Pacific Pte brands. The post holder in conjunction with the marketing coordinators will be responsible for ensuing that brand guidelines are followed increasing awareness of all CJ Patel Brands.

1. Marketing and Communications
  • Responsible for creating,implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing program that will enhance the CJ Patel Pacific Pte Ltd image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.
  • Managing the strategic and creative design of CJ Patel Pacific Pte Ltd marketing and communications activities and materials including:
    • Specific Brand Management
    • Website, Social Media, video production
    • Conference facilitation for suppliers
    • Media Relations
  • Manage the marketing staff
  • Dealing with external Agencies
  • Leads special projects as assigned, such as brand launches, re-branding/ logo development, consumer campaign development, execution and evaluation.
  • The Marketing Manager will be responsible for the production of all internal and external communication media, the use of social and digital media and negotiation with any external contractors or suppliers.
  • To design, implement and evaluate all direct marketing campaigns and activity working with Retail partners, internal teams and media agencies.
  • To oversee the ongoing development of the database as a tool for marketing, communications and promotional activity.
  • To advise the Group Marketing Manager on communications opportunities and risks
  • Work closely with the Group General Manager to ensure  marketing fully supports the targets set by the organization to achieve budgeted figures every month.
  • Provide reports to the Group Marketing Manager on analysis carried out on the website/ social media statistics and trends as and when required.
  • Proof read all materials ready for printing and obtain approval for printing
  • Obtain quotes for printing of marketing materials
  • Liaise with printers through the printing stages to delivery
  • Manage the merchandiser of t-shirts, caps,bowls, cups etc
  • Develop and manage a merchandise sales strategy (bundle options, add- ons, VAOs)
  • Prepare monthly marketing report (for suppliers), management reports and board reports.
2. Social and Digital Media
  • Develop content for the CJ Patel Pacific Pte Ltd brands including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • To be responsible for developing, writing,editing and updating copy, planning layout, checking ongoing accuracy and relevance and ensuring consistency in message tone and timeliness of content for the website and other digital media as required and ensuring accurate and time;y information.
  • Develop and deliver a planned communications programme that maximises opportunities.This will include managing the use of Social Media to support the CJ Patel strategy and taking responsibility for managing digital marketing projects, ensuring that they are delivered within budget and scope.
  • To be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Website by liaising with the CMS provider to exploit existing functionality, scope and deliver new functionality when appropriate and to maintain site standards.
3. Planning and Budgeting
  • Responsible for the achievement of marketing goals and financials objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems including benchmarks are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the Group Marketing Manager.
  • Assist Group Marketing Manager in development of annual marketing calendar.
  • Develop short and long term plans and budgets for the marketing activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  • Recommend short and long terms marketing objectives to Group Marketing Manager.
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing function.
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing and communications.
  • Provide input into budgetary process and ensuring marketing spend is effectively managed.
  • To develop and deliver project plans with the trade team to maximise opportunities to promote at forthcoming events or calendar festivities.
4. Public Relations
  • To develop and manage Public Relations events for CJ Patel Pacific Pte Ltd.
  • To act as the CJ Patel Social Media expert: reveiwing, implementing and evaluating the Social Media strategies and policies
  • To be responsible for leading on and coordinating for all national campaigns
  • To establish effective recording systems for information, monitoring and evaluating all media and marketing activities.
  • To research and identify new opportunities and initiatives to be added to the portfolio considering market trends, competitor and supporter intelligence and present business cases for approval, therefore meeting targets/ initiatives set.
  • To proactively work with all forms of local media to raise brand awareness.
  • To gather scan data analytics from all retail partners as per contractual obligations.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience within a Marketing/ Communications/ Public Relations/ Website Management related role
  2. Computer skills- must be experienced in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Databases
  3. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  4. proven ability to use use initiatives
  5. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work calmly and methodically when under pressure from a busy and varied workload
  6. Passion to provide a good user experience, good content and to a passion to convert advertising readers into advocates of the brand.
  7. Must be flexible to the needs of the post as this may require working outside of normal working hours
