Assistant Accountant Finance


Job Description

The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB), formerly known as Native Land Trust Board (NLTB) derives its existence from the Native Land Trust Act of 1940. Its core mandate is to manage iTaukei Lands with its Vision “To Excel in Land Services and the Economic Empowerment of our Landowners” TLTB Core Business is Sustainable Land Development to enrich the lives and livelihoods of our landowners. The Assistant Accountant Finance will conduct monthly Bank reconciliations for all TLTB main operating accounts (Head Office main Operating account, North West Operating account, South West Operating account and North Operating account) in a timely manner. Responsibility includes reconciliation of fixed assets, run depreciations, disposal, transfer and all related matters of Board Assets.

1. Accounting services provided:

  • Accountant Finance assisted with the daily operational work.
  • Growth in efficiency and effectiveness in work practices by active participation in teamwork, sharing information and proposing improvements
  • Accuracy and consistency ensured in all aspects of accounting transactions and procedures (i.e. proper posting to GLs and allocation in tenants accounts.
  • Verification of cashier ( Head Office) daily takings before banking. 
  • Performance reversals of receipts Landsoft for all regions upon endorsement by Manager Finance or Senior Accountant reporting.
  • Posting of end of day in Landsoft in the absence of Accountant Finance.
  • Verification of all payments done daily, making sure that approval is done with all supporting documents attached.
  • Creation of vendor in Navision ensured.
  • Updating of Capital Expenditure. 
  • Monitor the acquisition, transfer and disposal of Fixed Asset (Maintenance)
  • Requests for payments to be sourced from the right General Journals, teams and cost centres.

 

2. A developing and growing Finance function:

  • Contribution to improved procedures and compliance by learning all the accounting systems across the Finance functions.
  • Developed skills and knowledge base through training and learning

 

3. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare Bank reconciliation of all Finance Operating accounts (Head Office main Operating account, North West account, South West Operating account and North Operating account.
  • Prepare General Journal reconciliations. 
  • Run Depreciation for all Fixed Assets. 
  • Prepare Finance cashflow

 

4. Coordination of the following is ensured:

  • Accounts payable functions.
  • Annual fixed assets stock take.
  • Far maintenance.
  • customer account maintenance.
  • daily cash count ensured. 
  • Payments and receipt inputs in system checked.

 

5. Demonstrate TLTB image and values standards at all times

  • Integrity of information maintained.
  • Confidentiality of information ensured.
  • Professional and ethical standards sustained.
  • Prepare Appraisal and one on one session with Manager Finance. 
  • Business Excellence, participate Corporate Social Responsibility and 5s.

 

6. Customer Service

  • Quality and efficient quality service for internal and external clients of the Board.
  • Conduct stock takes for all TLTB Office twice yearly. 

 

7. Efficient and effective delivery of any other assigned work.

Qualifications

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. 2 years of highly relevant experience in a specific area of work, requiring specialized training.
  2. Experience with the coordination of monthly reconciliation of accounts
  3. Experience with the development of effective work procedures through active teamwork
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead change
  5. Demonstrated success in improving quality of customer service
  6. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use spread sheeting and word processing packages
