Business Development Analyst


Job Description

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) trading as Solomon Power is a state-owned enterprise established under the Electricity Act 1969 and governed by the State-Owned Enterprises Act 2007 and the associated regulations. Solomon Power owns, maintains, and operates the country’s national electricity grid. Solomon Power generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in the Solomon Islands.

The role will lead, manage and implement the key strategic initiatives in the Solomon Power Business Development Strategy focus mainly in finding other revenue streams for the company. Reporting directly to the Manager Business Development, the role will drive the growth and expansion into other revenue streams for the company, through analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and providing strategic insights to support business development initiatives.

1. Solomon Power’s Business Development Strategy implementation:
  • Lead the implementation and management of business initiatives as per the Business Development Strategy.
  • Analyze the trends in the market and the SP’s Business Development Strategies to identify opportunities to cash in on.
  • Provide ideas to add value to new products to increase sales and SP’s revenue.
  • Analyze consumer behavior and anticipate market trends to develop solutions to the problems our customers are facing
  • Perform competitor analysis to identify areas where SP can triumph the industry’s competitors and forge ahead to gain increased market share.
  • Identify new customers and evaluate the company’s sales strategies to serve the existing customers better.
  • Work on improving customer attention and communication to ensure a constant flow of positive reviews from them.
  • Identify and report profitable market business opportunities to capitalize on and increase margins.
  • Create custom and standard reports for the sales team and management, facilitating the decision-making process.
  • Liaison with various departments as determined by Manager for specific projects.
  • Meet with the staff to brief them on the new systems and procedures that the company is willing to work on.
  • Research new suitable business partners to increase important partnerships within the industry.
  • Help to prepare a new sales and marketing plan for existing and under developing products.
  • Prospect new technologies to improve the company’s competitiveness and increase market share, always keeping a step ahead of the competition.

2. Well informed management through accurate and timely reporting
  • Report relevant findings from the business development initiatives implemented, giving insight for improvements to the company’s senior management.
  • Support Manager Business Development with monthly reports, writing business proposals and providing updates during weekly Divisional meetings.

Qualifications

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in business analysis or a related field
  2. High level of computer Literate
  3. Results oriented and ability to deliver outcomes under pressure and difficult circumstances
  4. Ability to understand and demonstrate the strategic perspective in analysis and contribute to strategy in the relevant skill area
  5. Supports and encourages innovation and the testing out of new approaches
