Investment Accountant


Job Description

The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB), formerly known as Native Land Trust Board (NLTB) derives its existence from the Native Land Trust Act of 1940. The Investment Accountant will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all investment related activities of the TLTB. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, costing, and financial management of all invested funds.

1. Performance Management & Business Intelligence
  • Responsible for the accounting of the Board’s Finance and Trust investment portfolios.
  • Advise and recommend to the Investment Committee, the Corporate Governance Committee and the Board of Trustees the best alternative investment strategies and options.
  • Review investment portfolio on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for managing the Board’s investment portfolio in a transparent manner.
  • Invoicing and receipting of interest income in the Investment Module.
  • Prompt monthly update of the investment portfolio in the Investment Module.
  • Monitor, negotiate and update data on maturing investments with financial and credit institutions.
  • To manage the Board's portfolio of investment, to record the investment activities, to analyze the possible variances and to make the necessary entries in the journals by interacting with the financial and credit institutions.
  • To perform a detailed review of the yearly audited financial statements, make plans for investment options, and after properly reviewing it, document it in an appropriate manner to be reviewed by the internal and external resources.
  • To provide assistance in the preparation of valuation materials and to assist in monitoring of valuation procedures.
  • To update the data related to investment in the Investment Module on a monthly basis so that it can be analyzed and reviewed by the Investment Committee. Further, it will help in identifying the errors and working towards solving the discrepancies involved in it.
  • To take an active part in preparing the yearly budget for investments and assist in the timely and accurate reporting of all the transactions related to investment.
  • To coordinate and manage all the aspects related to the general ledger accounting for all the investments and to interact with the investment accounting system as well as the financial and credit institutions.
  • Secretary to the Investment Committee and will co-ordinate and facilitate meetings and monitoring of the action plan matrix.
2. Risk Management
  • Support the Risk Department by conducting regular effective risk analysis (i.e. variance analysis, trends) and reviews, ensuring proper financial and operational controls are in place.
  • Create strategies to mitigate financial and operational risk in the region, working closely with Risk Management committee.
3. Business Services
  • Support the development of the regional strategy, with a focus on ensuring sufficient capacity and support in the area of business operations.
  • Ensure excellent people management and development, in accordance with TLTB High Performance Organisation.
  • Support the design and implementation of any required new systems, processes and policies, working in coordination with the functional teams in the Head Office, Regions and Sub-regions.
