Job Description

Fiji Ships & Heavy Industries Limited(FSHIL), a business subsidiary of Fiji Ports Corporation Limited is committed to achieving excellence in providing ship repair services, slipway facilities and heavy industry work in accordance to customer requirements and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Responsible for maintaining overall financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely preparation/submission of FSHIL financial reports. Perform limited financial transactions for FSHIL. This role reports to the Manager Finance.

Outcomes

Organisational Stakeholders
1. Ensuring day to day functions are carried out in a timely manner:
  • Preparation of monthly profit & loss and balance sheet statements.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet items.
  • Preparation of management accounts and dashboard reports.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, bi annually and annual shareholder reports for Aitken Spence.
  • Preparation of 6 months and year end financial statements.
  • Analysing of financial data for better decision making.
  • Liaising with customers on major project works.
2. All departmental objectives addressed and completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Preparation of company annual budget taking into account, revenues, OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Preparation of separate annual budget for shareholder Aitken Spence.
  • Responsible for company annual financial year audit.
  • Responsible for 3 months separate audit for shareholder Aitken Spence.
  • Responsible for company internal audit on various accounting functions such as debtors, procurement, payments etc.
  • Writing of board papers as and when required.
  • Oversee all aged debtors and legal cases with debtors.
  • Cash flow projection and cash management and looking at ways on investment
  • Engaged in insurance matters of the company
  • Engaged with risk and compliance team on matters relating to Fiji Ships
  • Maintaining accounting and tax fixed asset register and doing additions and disposals.
  • Ensuring timely statutory payments of the company.
  • Preparation of tax working papers.
  • Preparation of job cost reports for every vessel repaired.
  • Assisting the Manager Finance and the CFO on formulation of policies and procedures relating to Fiji Ships.
  • Ensuring that ISO standard is maintained for stores.
  • Assisting the Operations Manager in achieving the strategic goals and infrastructure improvement.
  • Ensuring transactions are carried out as per finance policies and procedures.
  • Implementing effective cost control measures for the company.
3. All relevant internal and external communications handled professionally
  • Customer queries attended to effectively and appropriately                      
    • monitoring and logging of complaints accurately ensured
  • Internal and external auditors coordinated and liaised with as required                
    • Take remedial action on any of the recommendations
  • Stakeholder management ensured

  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Financial software, and FSHIL online reporting systems
  4. Demonstrated experience in financial audits
