Job Description

The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB), formerly known as Native Land Trust Board (NLTB) derives its existence from the Native Land Trust Act of 1940. Its core mandate is to manage iTaukei Lands with its Vision “To Excel in Land Services and the Economic Empowerment of our Landowners” TLTB Core Business is Sustainable Land Development to enrich the lives and livelihoods of our landowners. The Clerk of Works will ensure that the construction sub divisional works and uniformed access project of TLTB is carried out in accordance with the contract specifications and aligned to the relevant legislation. The incumbent will ensure that the project is completed within the specific budget and timeframe.

1. Compliance Monitoring
  • Construction activities complied with legal regulations, safety standards, and stakeholder’s minimal egress requirements ensured. 
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards ensured. 
2. Quality Assurance / Documentation
  • Materials and workmanship verified to meet the required quality standards.
  • Work meets required specifications, standards, and regulations ensured, any deficiencies or issues identified.
  • Accurate records of site activities, include daily reports, inspection reports, and any incidents or issues that arise maintained. 
3. Communication
  • Contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders liaised with to provide updates on progress and address any concerns ensured.
4. Reporting
  • Document site conditions, work progress and any deviations from the plan. 
  • Regular reports provided to Senior Project Officer.
  • Reports for Senior Project Officer, clients, and other stakeholders detailing progress, quality issues and recommendations prepared. 
5. Coordination / Site Inspection
  • Contractors and other relevant stakeholders liaised with to resolve any issues and discrepancies.
  • Regular inspections of construction sites conducted to monitor progress and quality of work.
6. Problem Solving
  • Address and discuss issues that arise on site to prevent delays or defects ensured. 
  • Problems or discrepancies that arise during the construction process identified and resolved. 
7. Safety Oversight
  • Construction site safety procedures adhered to and any potential hazards addressed.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction supervision, site management, or a related role is typically required.
  2. Strong communication, organizational. and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  3. Knowledge of Subdivision Act, Town Planning Act and Public Health Act.
  4. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  5. Strong attention to details and has proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  6. Has the ability to provide guidance and support to site personnel regarding best practices and quality standards.
