Digital Officer


Job Description

The Fijian Broadcasting Corporation is Fiji's largest media company providing radio and television services in the country. The FBC today operates a network of six radio stations; two in each of the three major languages (i-Taukei, Hindi and English). FBC also has three television channels (FBCTV, FBC2 and FBC Sports HD).

The Online Officer is responsible for the effective utilization of online media platforms to broadcast, display and market FBC's products and services to local, regional and international audiences.

1. Online Production
  • Coordinate with Journalists and Editors to promote news stories effectively online
  • Collaborate with Journalists and Content Producers to develop digital story-telling formats e.g. podcasts, interactive articles and live blogs
  • Assist in managing online communication during crisis or breaking news situations and ensure accurate and timely information dissemination
  • Manage and keep up-to-date all information and content on FBC's websites, mobile and social media portals
  • Plan, design, develop, schedule and co-ordinate with internal and external parties all initiatives and opportunities to enhance the experience of FBC's online and mobile audiences and customers
  • Liaise and collaborate with FBC's management and business units on the effective use of online and mobile media to meet the company's short, medium and long term strategies and goals
  • Work with the IT team to optimize the up-time of FBC"s websites and new media portals
  • Manage and regularly disseminate the usage statistics and data for the websites and other portals, with trend reports and recommendations to management
  • Research and keep abreast with technological and business developments that will enhance and grow FBC's online and new media business
  • Carry out additional responsibilities from time to time, as required by FBC's management
