Job Description

Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) trading as Solomon Power is a state-owned enterprise established under the Electricity Act 1969 and governed by the State-Owned Enterprises Act 2007 and the associated regulations. Solomon Power owns, maintains, and operates the country’s national electricity grid. Solomon Power generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in the Solomon Islands.

This role is responsible for all accounts payable processing that will cover local and overseas payments, when required and reports to the Team Leader Accounts Payable.

1. Accounts Payable Operations efficiently and effectively managed
  • Reconciliation of Supplier statements and invoices purchased on credit ensured.
  • Correct attachment for all valid invoices on each purchase order in the workflow for respective suppliers.
  • Accurate coding of payments complete correctly before payments for cash-flow approvals.
  • Ensure correct tax rates are applied on services that attracted tax.
  • Ensure tax are calculated correctly and coded correctly.
  • Making sure amounts are correctly calculated to the invoice amount.
  • File away all payment vouchers correctly according to correct check sequences.
  • Monthly payable reconciliation ensured.
  • Ensure timely payments of supplier accounts.
  • Effective communication with suppliers with regards to the issues surrounding payments, additional queries or documents required .
  • Effective communication with responsible staff with regards to the issues surrounding payments raised, additional queries or documents required.
2. Accounts Payable Admin support ensured
  • Make sure three quotes attached according to the SP Procurement Policy.
  • Calculations verification and allocation of payments prepared correctly.
  • Ensure approval of bullet point 1 & 2.
  • Professional customer service observed and when liaising with suppliers.
  • Reconcile accrual on monthly basis
  • Prepared general journals for accruals monthly
  • Prepare journals necessary for month end adjustment a part from accruals.
  • Adhere to payment procedures and processes.
  • Upload payment online for payment
  • Ensure no accounts closed due to non-payment on time.
  • Input journals prepared by other members of the finance team, this includes monthly accruals journals.
  • Load urgent and authorize payment(s) through Direct Payment in the workflow.
  • Support and Facilitate overseas payments as and when required
  • Communicate to team leader any issues regarding invoices or accounts.

Qualifications

Diploma Accounting Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. At least 3-5 years performing accounts payable roles for local & overseas suppliers Familiar with the Income Tax Act, Provincial Government Ordinances in which Solomon Power has Presence & foreign currency exchange rates and conversions.
