Senior Communication/IT Officer


Job Description

The Great Council of Chiefs (Bose Levu Vakaturaga) was established in 1876, with the primary purpose to serve as an advisory body on Indigenous affairs, ensuring traditional leadership structures were acknowledged and integrated into the governance system. The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) being independent plays a crucial role in advising on matters related to Good Governance and Wellbeing of the iTaukei.

The Senior Communication/IT Officer ensures that the Great Council of Chiefs Office (GCCO) is supported by a robust communication strategy, effective content creation, reliable IT management, and proactive stakeholder engagement. This role is crucial in enhancing the GCCO's public image, maintaining its IT infrastructure, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and the media. The role reports to the Manager Operations.

Qualifications

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Demonstrated ability to create and implement effective communication plans
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, in communications, IT management, or a related field
  3. Experience with maintaining IT systems, providing technical support, and managing IT projects
  4. Proven ability to produce newsletters, press releases, and other communication materials
  5. Experience managing communication inquiries and fostering relationships with media and other stakeholders
