Senior Economic Officer


Job Description

The Great Council of Chiefs (Bose Levu Vakaturaga) was established in 1876, with the primary purpose to serve as an advisory body on Indigenous affairs, ensuring traditional leadership structures were acknowledged and integrated into the governance system. The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) being independent plays a crucial role in advising on matters related to Good Governance and Wellbeing of the iTaukei.

The Senior Economic Officer ensures that the Great Council of Chiefs Office (GCCO) is supported by thorough economic analysis, strategic community development, effective training programs, and well-informed policy recommendations. This role is crucial in advising on economic policies, promoting sustainable economic practices, and enhancing the economic capacity of the community. The role reports to the Manager Operations.

Qualifications

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. At least 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role

  3. Demonstrated ability to analyse economic trends, develop policy recommendations, and advise on economic policies
  4. Experience with statistical software and data analysis tools to interpret economic data
  5. Ability to present complex economic information clearly and interact effectively with stakeholders
