Job Description

BNBM PNG Limited is a leading hardware and home improvement wholesaler and retailer in Papua New Guinea. Established in 1992, the company has grown significantly over the decades, becoming a trusted name in the construction and home improvement sectors. BNBM operates across multiple locations in PNG, offering a wide range of building materials and home furnishing products. Their product lineup includes cement and aggregates, roofing materials, plumbing supplies, furniture and home furnishings, tools and construction accessories.

The Sales & Customer Support plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the daily operations of the store. This role involves assisting customers with product selection, maintaining store presentation, and ensuring stock is well managed. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on attitude, basic knowledge of hardware and home improvement products, and a commitment to helping customers find the right solutions for their needs.

1. Customer Service & Sales
  • Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
  • Assist with product inquiries and offer advice on tools, materials, and DIY solutions.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Promote current specials and new products.
2. Product & Inventory Support
  • Restock shelves and maintain product displays.
  • Check inventory levels and assist with stocktakes.
  • Receive and unpack deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly.
  • Report low stock or damaged items to supervisors.
3. Store Presentation
  • Keep the store clean, organized, and safe for customers and staff.
  • Ensure signage and pricing are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in setting up promotional displays and seasonal sections.
4. Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet store goals.
  • Communicate customer feedback and product issues to management.
  • Attend training sessions to improve product knowledge and customer service skills.

Qualifications

Senior Secondary School - University Entrance Arts and Economics, Finance, Mathematics With relevant work experience.

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Previous experience in retail or customer service (ideally 1–2 years).
  2. Experience in hardware, building supplies, or home improvement would be highly valued
  3. Basic computer literacy, including use of POS systems and email.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Numeracy skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
  6. Ability to lift and move stock - physical fitness is important.
