Job Description

Fiji Pine Group (FPG) is a state-owned forestry and wood-processing organisation in Fiji, responsible for the sustainable management of the country’s pine plantation resources. The Group is involved in plantation establishment, harvesting, timber processing, and the supply of wood products for local and export markets. Through its various subsidiary companies, Fiji Pine Group (FPG) plays a key role in supporting rural employment, landowner participation, and the long-term development of Fiji’s forestry sector while promoting sustainable and responsible forest management.

Specializes in electrical systems of vehicles and heavy equipment. This position reports to the Fleet Coordinator - Operations

1. Reliable Operation of Fleet Electrical Systems
  • Troubleshoot, diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical systems on Company fleet vehicles.
  • Downtime minimized through timely diagnostics and repairs.
  • Wiring, lighting, ignition, and control systems serviced according to established procedures.
  • Performing maintenance on batteries and charging systems.
  • Responsibility for performing skilled work in diagnostic and understanding the implications and benefits of it.
  • Replacing and installing electrical connectors, relays, fuses, and circuit breakers.

  • Potential electrical faults detected early and resolved before they disrupt operations.
  • Scheduled inspections carried out consistently.

  • Ensure safe operations and maintenance of tools, machinery or equipment.

  • Equipment tested against regulatory benchmarks.
  • Compliance with Fiji’s road transport and workplace safety regulations will be verified
  • Maintain housekeeping as per OHS standards and adhere to company policy and procedures at all times.

Qualifications

Diploma Automotive, Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Work Knowledge and Experience

  1. Appreciation and knowledge of safety policies, procedures and requirements
  2. Good teamwork & interpersonal skills
  3. At least 10 years' experience in a similar position
  4. Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) systems, Transformers, HV switchgear, protection systems and switching operations
  5. Understanding of DC systems, battery banks, inverters ad charging systems
  6. Working knowledge of AS/NZS3000 wiring rules and LV wiring
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of generator controls and ancillary equipment
  8. Computer Skills and ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point Presentation, MS Visio
  9. Electrical licence or Wiremen Licence and experienced in the use of electrical testing equipment
  10. Ability to understand and interpret CAD drawings
  11. Ability to lift up to no more than 50 pounds
